My baby robins have all fledged apparently.
I have never seen an animal that matures as quick as a robin does.

1. Nest with 4 eggs on our window sill now
Unfortunately its the window the dogs usually stare out all day, but I have to keep the blind closed now. We saw one egg per day starting on Friday.
How long did they take to hatch?

2. My daughter just rescued one under the strawberry netting.
Little thing must have snuck under earlier when my granddaughter was picking strawberries. At least he wasn't hungry while he was under there. I think he's almost as big as his mom now.

3. how long did it take?
I have some birds in a nest built over one of my outside light fixtures. I noticed there were four eggs then a few days later there were three birds. Then last week one of the birds must have fallen out of the nest. We found it dead and it looked like something had been eating it. We now have two little birdies but I don't know what kind.

do you have any pictures of your little birdies?

4. We have our annual family of scrub jays living in the yard
The three big babies are almost adult in size if not color, but still make their funny little scratchy "reeee, reeee reeee" sound all the time asking mom & dad for food. The parents are still attending to the kids.
You might see the robins hiding out in lower banches or under bushes for a while.

7. We always have robins.
The two dogwoods in the front of the house have been home to them for 50 years.

And yes Roon, they fly away all too soon.

10. I studied up on them when this family moved in.
And if they like the spot they live in, they will come back every year! We are taking this nest down as soon as the robins ditch it. It's on the back porch light and the porch is covered with bird poop! Hope they use the peach tree or something next time..lol

11. Every spring I search for the kildeer nests
I have tried and tried to actually watch some hatch (from a distance, of course)but have failed to do so.

They hatch with their eyes open and take off across the ground in search of food. They cant yet fly, and stay near their mother until they can.

If you have ever seen a kildeer doing a wounded bird act, you can bet she has a nest or babies nearby.

12. There is a pair of kildeer in an open area where I walk my dog. They have
been doing their act when we reach a certain spot for a couple of weeks. The other day they were further down in the field, so I assume the chicks have hatched and have moved away from the nest site. I never spotted the nest and I didn't see any young'ns, but that wounded bird act is something to watch. They flop and flutter like they are going through their death throes.

13. They used to fool me, I would really think they were hurt
until my father explained it to me.

Unless you are looking for a kildeer nest, you arent likely to find one. They are real masters at camoflauge.

14. Since I had the dog with me, I stayed away from the area where they
obviously didn't want us to go.
