The Little Debbie logo is recognized worldwide, but it was this recognition that earlier this year led it to become the centerpiece of an election campaign for a senator in Michigan. The campaign staff of Senator Spence Abraham, Republican of Michigan, used an image strikingly similar to the Little Debbie logo to focus on the positions of his challenger, Representative Debbie Stabenow, a Michigan Democrat.

Using the tag line "Liberal Debbie Stabenow … A liberal on the Issues. Too Liberal for Michigan," the Abraham campaign drew the ire of McKee Foods, which referred the issue to the company's trademark attorneys.

Although it provides a disclaimer claiming to have no connection to what it refers to as "the delicious Little Debbie brand of snack foods," the site offers viewers an opportunity to win a free box of Little Debbie snacks in exchange for negative information on Representative Stabenow. Despite continued requests to stop using the logo, the Liberal Debbie image was still up on Senator Abraham's site as of September
