So, my niece's economic teacher
during class this week asks his class of high school seniors how many of them really think we're in Iraq to spread democracy and not for oil. Then, before anyone can answer, he says, "If anyone raises their hand, they flunk the class and I never want to see them again."

This is the same niece whose government teacher after maintaining a fairly balances facade suddenly cracked near the end of last semester and screamed "Karl Rove is the spawn of Satan!"

No wonder the Repukes hate the public schools.

...makes everyone listen to Limbaugh.

I think teachers should just teach kids how to think and respect their opinions. I guess both sides should adhere to that.

3. That teacher was entirely in the wrong.
It doesn't matter what side you're on, or how wrong the other side is. That sort of attitude is completely inappropriate, especially for a high school teacher.

4. I don't think this one experience should be an indictment
of all public schools. I went to public school and all the teachers I had behaved in a professional manner. This teacher is clearly imbalanced and should seek counseling.

That's not the role of a teacher, whether in a private, public or parochial setting. There's nothing wrong with teachers expressing their personal views on controversial political maters. In fact, its a very good thing. But this, if its been described to you correctly, is simply absurd.
