seems to me he claimed that it was him and not his dad playing bass on this and on Let's Get It On, but that stuff's all credited to his dad, and I don't suppose I have any way of proving or disproving it. I suspect he may have been "exaggerating" just a teensy bit( and also possible I'm remembering wrong)...Great music one way or another though... Marvin Gaye was a truly visionary artist , (not to mention one hell of a singer)....not bad for a guy who started out at Motown as a staff drummer...

3. its a great one for sure--here's a funny story about it too...

I was driving down the street a couple of years ago and the oldies station was playing it. It was springtime and my window was down and I had the radio cranked up loud. A couple of kind of rough looking young guys pulled up next to me at a stoplight and started yelling at me, and I had an "uh oh, this can't be good" moment. I turned the radio down to hear what they were yelling and they were just shouting " hey bro, that's a bad jam; what station is that?" Told em, and they put it on and yelled "thanks bro" and tore off down the street when the light turned green with Marvin going full blast in their truck.
