1. Now, you just stop whining and pet that cat.
And thank your lucky stars that you don't have to deal with my turtle. I was working on the filter in her tank the other night and not paying close attention to where she was and she bit half of the end of my finger off. Hurt like a sonofabitch and bled for a long time. (I have a couple of cats, too, and one of them is a relentless attention-seeker. I love them, but I do know how you feel, it gets a bit much.)

3. Cats are funny, though, aren't they?
When you want to pet them, they can't be bothered. But when it's their idea, you better pay attention. My husband's favorite cat, Joey, was a shoulder cat. He would climb up on this shoulders when he got home from work and stay there all evening, just riding around. Joey was a real sweetie.
About that turtle, I have two of them. One of them never bites, the other, bigger one is a biter. I like them, but I can't say that they are real cuddly pets.

4. That reminds me of a racoon
that my little brother used to have. He got it at abou 16 days old and it ran around the house. When I was sitting on the couch reading it would climb up on the other end of the couch and run down the back of the couch, hook its paw around my glasses and pull them off, (Racoons are very dexterous). Then it would run off.
When I put my glasses back on, the whole thing would start all over.

6. Oh, how cool is that?
A pet racoon! Smart, aren't they? (But then, I think all animals are smart.) How long did you have it?

12. We had it a couple of years, I think
It died of distemper - racoons can get canine distemper and feline distemper,

It was really cool. It used to play with or dog, Fred, and nibble on his paw until he got fed up and he would just get up and go somewhere else.

5. How to discipline a cat.
Around my house we have a thing called S.K.I.D.S. That stands for Sudden Kitty Death Syndrome.

I keep reminding the cat that inappropriate Kitty Behavior leads to SKIDS.

Unfortunately, it has absolutely no affect on the cat.

7. It won't.
Remember the fact of life - dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

8. had a kitten
that would curl up by the side of my head and suckle on my ear during the night

I learned how to sleep with the covers over my head, then she learned how to crawl under the covers

eventually she grew out of the need to suckle - but still curled up around my head at night....and I had to contend with a very furry tail dangling on my face

9. Is this cat an orange tabby, perchance?
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 06:49 AM by DeposeTheBoyKing
I have one of those, and he does the same thing. They're extraordinarily affectionate. Count yourself lucky and just let her be!

10. The only reason I'm up at this godawful hour
Is because the !@#$#@! cat decided it was time for some ATTENTION, DAMMIT! Little bastard jumped up on my chest and started doing this "dance" with his front paws on my face, and walking up and down the length of my body! HEY! WAKE UP, OLD MAN! TIME TO PLAY!! It was about that point that I (a) realized resistance was futile, and (b) reminded him how close he was to going into the f'ing RIVER!!!!

Little furry bastard! If I didn't love his sorry ass, he'd be toast!

Of course, if I feel like giving him or his sister some attention, they're like, "Fuck off."

Dogs have owners, cats have staff. HOW TRUE.

11. You have no choice here, you know.
Give up your will and pet the cat. Your life will be a LOT easier that way!
