Which sadly is why I am still up. Hey, I saw a movie tonight and I apparently missed a lot of things on DU, and I missed an opportunity to talk to all my DU pals. I don't want to sleep - too boring. Watching TV will put me to sleep. The computer seems like the only thing to. So I therefore feel like ranting!

Have you every noticed how everything humans make have drawbacks? Cars? Computers? Now microwave popcorn?

Eh I give up...discuss amongst yourselves while I go take a Tylenol.

2. Child-proof lighters piss me off!

I hate all the child-proof things. Lighters, pill bottles, etc. I don't know how we all grew up without them. I mean, I'm 51, I had metal toys, for crissakes. How did I survive? Re the original post-what's wrong with microwave popcorn now? What did I miss?

....ahh it never ends..yeah and how did we live without car seats as kids too...I was all over the car...in the floorboard...on the back dash...were we lucky or WHAT!! :D

6. About the car seats-

that's exactly what I mean. I used to sit on the floor of the car or in my Mother's lap. How did we make it?
Gee, that's too bad about the popcorn fumes. Not much smells better than microwave popcorn poppin', unless it's the smell of bacon frying. Yum.

10. Anyone remember riding a bicycle WITHOUT a freakin helmet?

These are just signs of our litigious and otherwise sheepishly frightened nature as Americans. The media inflame our fears by dramatizing extreme examples when people have been hurt (i.e., the kid who falls off his bicycle and cracks his head open) and then warning that the same could happen to your kid. Of course, this is a convenient reality for the people who own the helmet factories.

Of course, if you don't take every step (as a manufacturer of a good) to protect the consumer from harm (i.e., oftentimes their own freakin' stupidity), they will sue your ass off when they suffer injury from your product.

8. I rip the childproof thing off my lighters

Take a fork and pry it out of there. it goes from taking superhuman effort to light to it might accedentally light if i have it in my jeans pocket, good stuff

bush sucks, his polocies suck, why cant my car warm up faster on a cold morning, why does my alarm always let me oversleep? whats with the child locks on smaller non-family cars and why does every soccer mom need to drive a SUV and nearly run me over and tailgate me every day?
