Egads. The New York Times has figured me out

They have a story on left-right reading habits, and did this graphic to explain where on the left-right spectrum some books fall. It looks like one of those "What political party are you" tests...and there are my books, 'Sedition' and 'War on Iraq,' pretty much right where I fall on those tests.

Weird stuff to wake up to.

Here's the story, btw:

1. Wow...Krebs figured out that people who buy one WIlliam Pitt book
buy other William Pitt books. I'm shocked.

;)

2. You are just like Savage, O'Reilly, and Coulter!
Except for the whole "right-wing fucker" part.

Nice to see your books in there with a lot of my other favorites. :) GO YOU!

Interesting methodology the guy used. I'm definitely gonna have to go back and re-read the article when I'm more awake to see if I have anything pertinent to say about it.

G'mornin'...where's the donuts? :)

10. Reminds me of yesterday at my local indie bookstore
It's downtown, which is arguably the hippest area here in squaresville, but is also home turf for numerous conservative Republican business-morans. I was cruising through "Current Events" (looking for "The Book on Bush" which I ordered) and noted how fair and balanced for real their selection was. For each Molly Ivins, a Savage Weiner; Al Franken and Sean "Asswipe" Hannity in equal measure.

I told the owner "You're doing a good job of being non-biased if I only want to throw half the books out the window." ;)

13. It also has a lot of damning info in it too
IIRC, that's the book where it was revealed that Rummy was yelling "Iraq!" right after the planes hit.

15. Here's the difference..
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 01:46 PM by SoCalDem
I would bet money that if one bought all the books on the "left", they would be chock full of footnotes, and facts, easily traceable to mainstream sources..

There would be some hyperbole, because we all like it..right or left...

but the books on the right would probably be a lot of "reminiscences and meanderings" of the minds of the writers..probably very few actual verifiable facts..

The left is often accused of being "touchy-feely", and devoid of facts, but loaded with theory.. Regardinig literature, the OPPOSITE is actually true.. O'Reilly & Coulter are prime examples. Their tomes are ALL ABOUT their own litle worlds and the perceptions they hold..

I dare anyone to find an "irreproachable fact" in any of her books :)

16. Just looked up Will's books on Amazon.com
...and found the following hateful reader review:

Democracy is dead according to Will Pitt and other far left 'thinkers', but save yourself the money and just go spend time at democraticunderground.com or truthout.com and get the same hateful negativity for free.

What a load of crap!
