1. I've seen a few of those while diving out at Anacapa - they're really amazing fish

I'm glad they're making a comeback, but there's a long ways to go...

Where's Anacapa?

3. Anacapa is one of the Channel Islands in CA - it's about 15 miles offshore,

midway between LA and Santa Barbara. Several of the islands are a national park, and there are marine reserves adjacent. So, the landscape is a window into what CA used to be, and there is a wealth of marine life (the fishing is good too, where it's allowed).

The big sea bass really aren't scary - it's more majestic when you come face to face with them. It's the urchins that are scary; you just know that that those tiny little buggers are absolutely dying to sink a spine into you... :)
