Help with Nixon Admin question
I'm writing something that involves a college and protest (fiction). I want to name the Dean, after someone with the first name Dean in the Nixon Administration. So it would sound like, Dean Smith or Dean Martin. I'm pretty sure there was someone with the first name Dean in his admin, but when I google, I get John Dean and tons of watergate links. Anyone know the name I'm searching for?

He wasn't Nixon...he was Kennedy administration, I think.

Edited for omitting a word.

8. There was a John Dean with Nixon
He served for a time as counselor to Nixon, and delivered the line, "Sir, there is a cancer on the presidency, and it is growing." Perhaps not an exact quote, as I don't tape things. All of the elder d.u.ers will remember him testifying on live tv in the 1970s' Watergate hearings. It marked a huge change in American politics. I'd love to hear some of our brothers and sisters memories of old John Dean testifying? My father was a Kennedy democrat, but I remember that this episode just destroyed his faith in the federal government. As a kid, I knew I was witnessing something enormous, even though Dean looked to be a weak and spineless pud.

9. I was a kid then too
from a republican family. I remember how disillusioned and disappointed they were. Still didn't stop them from voting repug. I was too young to watch. I'd love to hear about the era from DUers with strong memories on the topic.
