1. No pics but
those were cute pics you have. You have cats that LIKE each other! Really sweet!
Somehow I always seem to get the cats that "prefer to be the only cat in the household" - sometimes more than one at a time.

He died on Thanksgiving night.

He was a wonderful kitten.

Edited on Sat Jun-27-09 12:56 AM by AllenVanAllen

It's a pic of my 15 year old wearing a "cat-hat", because he's too old to fight.

Your cats look very sweet. I'm sorry about your Ben's premature death.

16. I made the cat-hat
from an old jacket's shoulder pad! He just loves to be close to us he almost doesn't care what is going on around him.
I left it on him just long enough to laugh and take the picture.

Thanks! :)

...don't have any new ones of mine, but yours are gorgeous. Ben is a cutie. I've rarely seen a red tabby with those white markings. I have a gray tabby who has the same white markings. Cute.

But we alternate between Zelda, Zeldy, Zeldar, and Zeldosaurus...and we're making up new alternatives all the time. This cat has so many nicknames!

38. I had a cat named Mandu too!
He was a gorgeous Blue Persian. His favorite game was to lie in wait when I started to read the morning paper. When I was deeply engrossed in some article, he'd run up and swat the paper to make me jump. :D

Very unusual coloration, too. I've never seen a cat with this coloration! Is the photo accurate? Is this kitty mostly white/beige with reddish markings? :swoon:

25. true colors
this cat was gorgeous... I work on the road and my sister lives in my house. When I was visiting we went to pick up an advertised house kitty and this cat in the picture (named him Toker) as told by the other person was a stray(different from the kitty she was giving away) in her garage and asked if we wanted to care for him. Toker was huge - the chair he is in is a chair and 1/2! He was sweet and loving and beautiful BUT, after a few weeks turned vicious towards the other kitty that we took home. We had to get rid of him and hope he got a very nice home with no other cats.

32. I, too, hope Toker found a loving home.
We sporadically care for a feral female whom we've named Porkchop. She hates my guts and hisses at me, but I feel honored that she knows ours is a place where she can get a meal, vitamins (and antibiotics and worm meds when she needs them) and protection. Toker chose you, too, and you did right by him, friend.

24. I might find a couple...
Mu and Missy having a little snooze. Both were abandoned by Momma Cat, at one week and two, and I bottle-fed them both for a month.

Jeff, my big boy. And I do mean 'big'. He tips the scale just over twenty pounds of big lean kitty. When he jumps onto your lap for a rub, you better be ready for him, or he'll knock the wind out of you.

His litter-mate Mutt-mutt.

He's our 'special' guy. When we were going to take in Mutt-mutt and Jeff the same day, we couldn't find Mutt. He had taken off for parts unknown.

One month later, scratching at out patio door, I open it and in hobbles a rail-thin, bedraggled Mutt-mutt. He runs to the kitchen and eats like he's starving, limping badly with his tail dragging on the floor. He was a mess. We took him to the vet in the morning.

The x-rays the vet took were ghastly, and he immediately sent us to the emergency vet hospital.

His tail was broken at the base of his spine, and halfway down his tail all the fur was rubbed off where it was broken again. His right femur was broken in two places, and his pelvis was fractured and displaced forward. No doubt he went under the wheel of a car.

The emergency vet told us he wouldn't even know where to start. He told us to make him comfortable, and if it looked like he was in too much pain, he would put him down, no charge. He wasn't sure if any of the spinal cord damage affected his kidney or digestive functions, and only time would tell. He said we would know fairly quickly. His leg was splinted, but that was it.

We took him home, feeling awful. We expected the worse.

Six weeks later we took him in for his first real exam and shots, and our vet asked us if this was a different cat. He said whatever it was we were doing, to keep doing it.

He's grown into a robust boy who walks with a slight limp, and he can raise his tail halfway up and thump us with it. He runs around with the little ones when he gets in the mood, but otherwise he's a happy camper and not in any pain.

My son's Tux, Marble. She is a ferocious protector of the little kitties of her sister. She is bonded to my son like he was her girlfriend, and wherever he is, she is right by his side.

And this is the current litter of ferals we took in. They're two weeks older now.

We've found a home for the brown tabby, and another one is going to a new home today, we just don't know which kitty yet. My son is leaving now to meet the prospective new owner.

We took their mother Momma Cat into the house at the same time, and after her kitties are all adopted out, she is going to be spayed and and will be kept inside. She has a very gentle disposition, and doesn't mind getting rubbed-up or her ears scratched.

She is adapting to indoor life quite well. All the kitties pictured above are her offspring from different litters, except Marble, who is Momma Cat's sister.

I need a new battery in my camera, but Momma Cat is a brown Tabby and looks exactly like Mutt-mutt, her son.
