Any shrinks out there? I have a question.
What causes a person to be overly opinionated? I know a whole family that is composed of very opinionated people. There are 3 sisters and 2 brothers all over 50 who have an opinion on everything. They do not mind giving it to anyone who will stand and listen. They all seem a little narcissistic and I think it's related. It is vey annoying.

3. I have a friend like that - it's never "I think that..." or "I feel that..."
It's always "The fact is..." or "I'll tell you the truth..." or perhaps not any intro, just a declarative that leaves no room for argument, like the rightwingers like to use - shit like "It's because we went off the gold standard" or "The Jews control the banks" or "It all started with Jane Fonda".

As you may notice, he's also a rightwinger of a sort - more hard-line libertarian conspiracist who wants the government out of our lives except for draconian hard-nose miranda-eschewing police enforcement of anything he doesn't like, than he is Republican, though.

Bit of a nutjob as he gets older, sadly.

And yes, I think it's narcissism - though a narcissism that seems to come more from lack of self-confidence and self-value; a sort of way to convince themselves that they aren't crap, which is too bad, really, because there's probably no reason for them to think they're crap, but probably grew up in a crappy household. And a typical kind of conservative outlook: fear of change and difference, inability to handle ambiguity, need for closure, and so on.

10. They did grow up in a crappy household. I bet that's got a lot
to do with it too.

know a few people who are ALWAYS right, have to have a strong opinion about EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, usually negative or judgmental, and if you disagree, they will spend 2 hours telling me WHY I'm wrong and how INSULTING it is that I disagree with them.

12. There must be a underlying cause for this. This particular
family knows about everything and everybody and it's almost always negative.Always commenting about stupid their current subject is. All are republicans. Could it be that they get it from Faux "news"?
