4. It was a terribly officiated game

MY wife went to Duke, and is an avid fan. I hear constantly about how the announcers, officials, and everyone else is against Duke, and I usually ignore it as the prejudices of a true believer.

But today, I think she was right. The zebras went out of their way to give every opportunity to Maryland while holding Duke to an outrageous standard. Some of the fouls called against Duke were completely fallacious.

My god they get every call in the book and sometimes they seem to make up some.

See Duke play in a neutral site and hear how it is obvious that they get anticipatory calls and phantom turnovers.

I understand that your wife is passionate but that is turning everything I have ever heard on its ear.

11. Duke up by 12 with about 5 minutes to play and

loses in overtime. You can't blame the officiating. If anything Duke got some gifts. There was a none-call on a clear charge and the Duke player whipped it out to a teammate who hit a three. Duke has nobody but themselves to blame. They got a little cocky and started to force some shots which resulted in misses or blocked shots and Maryland got back into the game. Why force shots when you are up by 10-12 points late in the 2nd half?

Hubby claims the same and I am usually skeptical. Today I was glad we weren't in the same house watching the game. Even I was screaming at the calls.

But all of the whining about "Duke gets all the calls" is just sour grapes from the losers who can't get it done on the court.

When Duke loses, I don't hear Coach K crying like a little girl that the refs stole it from them, unlike say, Gary Williams.
