My in-laws are ultra-fundies and Bush lovers.

3. Sort of funny in a sad way story
I am on the verge of a (long-time in coming) seperation with my husband :( and he said the only good part if we split up is that he'll never have to deal with my mother again!

6. Oh, no, SB, you really
aren't separating are you? I guess it is a long time coming from what you've said in a lot of posts, but it's still really sad to see marriages break up! Feel free to vent to us anytime, no matter what!

5. Mine pissed me off too...
She keeps trumping the rules I set for my toddler son, and then he goes and won't fuckin listen to me anymore, and she wonders why
I'm annoyed, and I repeatedly tell her why he shouldn't do things, that we don't let him do that at home, and it's a rule, and I'm being unreasonable suddenly.

Your vent?

7. My mother-in-law called
called my son a shit in front of his sister. He was 2 and she was 5 and completely mortified. After that, the rules were they (the kids)could see then if they wanted, but it was up to them. But, if they did choose to see them they had to be respectful. My daughter is 18 and only now warming back up to them, but does not trust them.

10. I don't really like my MIL either
She thinks that everything is wrong with me. She has said that I am low class, really a lesbian, ugly, a lousy wife, and nuts. That's only what she has said to my face. She also tried to set my husband up with other people while we were dating. She is just jealous because she did everything to please her mother-in-law because she thought that she was suppose to do that to get married. I stayed the way that I am and her son married me anyway despite threats to cut him out of the will. I have a hard time getting along with her after all of this. She isn't perfect either and in my opinion, less perfect than I am.

13. I'm very close with my mother-in-law.
After reading some of these posts, I realise that I've really lucked out in this area. I'm glad we get along so well, because we all just bought a house together. I sure hope living under the same roof won't change our relationship.

18. We must be lucky
I get along very well with my MIL. After 20+ years of marriage to her daughter we still have a great time when we're together. She's a tough as nails old country girl, liberal, and a great sense of humor. I've been blessed, I truly do love the old girl.

14. Ya know what...
...it doesn't matter what your partners family thinks about you, so long as your partner loves you, then that is all that matters.

15. My mother in law is fine...as long as she is getting all the attention,
Honest. She threw a giant fit last weekend at my daughter's birthday party because no one called to ask where she was. She had forgotten about it. I swear, one would think reminding her three times would be enough....I could go on.

Think Doris Roberts and you've got a thumbnail sketch of my dear sweet mummy in law.

Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 09:07 PM by Amaya
about my monster in-law (now ex in law)... however I wouldn't want to torture anyone. What a high riding bitch! She hates me through and through now more than ever since I rejected her son. Let me tell ya the apple doesn't fall from the tree.
