Do Not Call List.......Please Read....
Just rec'd this e-mail from a cousin. Looks like the corporate crooks are scamming us again.

This is to all of you that signed up for the Do Not Call list.

This week I received a card in the mail that looked alright -- it said
"vote for your favorite cola - Pepsi or Coke - and receive a
complimentary 12 pack." It didn't look suspicious, but for some reason I
kept looking at it. THEN I FOUND IT!! At the bottom of the card there is
a VERY small statement. It is SO small it is hard to read, but here is
what it says:
"By completing this form, you agree that sponsors and co-sponsors of this
offer may telephone you, even if your number is found on a do-not-call
registry or list."
This REALLY upset me and I just wanted all my friends to be aware of this
way to get around the "do not call" law. Just think how many people will
send this in and their do not call registry will be NO GOOD! The
company's name is MARKET SOLUTION. Please send this to all your friends
that signed up for "do not call." I think this is just one of what we
will get in the future so READ EVERYTHING before you sign and send! And
be sure your friends know about this!

4. I think that goes into effect on October 1
--so yes, you will still get calls until then.
Caller ID works great. I don't answer anything from "unknown caller" or from BellSouth and a couple of others. Mostly unknown caller.

11. "Do Not Disturb" Works Great Also... Callers Must Know Our PIN
and press those numbers during the recorded message in order to cause our phone to ring at all.

No ignoring necessary. Complete silence if they caller doesn't know our PIN passcode.

Anyone without the passcode gets dumped into voicemail, so no caller is truly lost into oblivion. No emergency goes unanswered.

But... fortunately, most autodialers and most sales callers never end up in voice mail. They automatically hang up, or choose to move on to the next hapless victim.

This thread ought to be in General Discussion, so the non-lounge posters can see this.

Thanks for having a good eye and catching this, shirlden.

12. Dastardly "Opt-In' Tricks!
And when you send in the card, and after you get deluged with all the telly-marketer calls meant for your exchange, they will inform you that you opted-in for all this abuse, and no, you can't change your mind....

13. You do see the beauty in the No Call list for the big conglomerates....
See.....you get taken off the phone list from sea to shining sea.

Then the big conglomerates find a way to get you to waive the Do Not Call limitation for THEIR PRODUCTS ONLY.

And they will do it in soooooo many ways.....

In essence, the BIG GUYS still have direct access to you...and the little guys who telemarket can't legally get to you.

You now are a captive target for specific big GOP-supporting companies.

This just occurred to me. I wondered what the FUCK was up with Bush just out of the blue saying....."we need to protect the privacy of the people." When has BUSH ever made one move to protect any citizen from any corporate malfeasance? And when has anything he done NOT grossly benefited the big corps?

And this is it.

Bush just set the stage for coca-cola to own you...and to hell with a little struggling local company that just wants to get the word out about their product.

ahhhhhhhh, big business reigns supreme.....yet again
