why does Condoleeza Rice shake her head "no" when she spouts?
Someone else mentioned this on a thread I saw earlier.

I'm watching the replay of MTP on CNBC, and it's totally true. Do you think it's a subliminable admission that she's full of shit?

1. I rememeber someone posted that last year.
They couldn't figure out why, when Condaliar is trying to be persuasive, she shakes her head in a 'no' gesture.

I bet a shrink would have a field day with her. Any here at the DU?

3. rummy, colin, bush, ashcroft all do it too.

not as obvious as the condi and most of em do it to some degree, really watch all of em when they talk, not rehearsed addresses, but when they take questions. cheney is really good at surpressing it... but he still does it when hes caught off guard by a question.

9. Bush leans closer to the mike when he's lying.
Anybody who can't see that "tell" from a mile away has got to be blind.

5. Two reasons
(1) She's lying: it's a well known "tic" that indicates someone is being less than truthful.

(2) She's defensive: she's trying to correct her questioners, telling them with her body language that they are wrong, wrong, wrong.

7. Even Condi can't believe
the bullshit that's falling out of her lips. Personally, I like the way her eyelids flutter; bet you can feel a breeze from them!

8. She's a great script reader
She always sounds like she's memorized the script. Why the hell didn't Russert or anyone else ever try to knock her off script? And the shaking the head thing-classic body language signal there-she might be able to stay on script but she sure as hell doesn't believe what she's spouting!

11. I'm the one who said she always shakes her head "no" when she talks.
It's always bugged the hell out of me and because of it, I don't need to hear a word she says.

She's telling everybody that she's full of shit when she talks. Maybe she has a conscience somewhere, but she gives it away everytime she speaks.

13. Jon-Benet's mother did that in an interview once
So the answer depends on what you think the story is in that case. At the time, I thought it meant that she was confirming that every word she was saying was a lie. Subsequently, I'm leaning more towards the point of view that it's an indication that you feel something strongly but know that you're not going to be believed. (Or maybe that you're trying to convey that you feel it strongly whether you do or not.) The only way to find out the answer though would be to catch yourself shaking your head no constantly as you speak and examine whether you yourself are telling the truth. I'm not that profligate a liar, myself.
