1. What about them is freaky?
My favorite movie is City Lights, which was Charlie Chaplin's last fully silent film. Really great stuff. I guess it might be an acquired taste.

2. I don't so much mind the comedies
but this one is a suspense/drama and it seems like their eyes stare right through me...its probably just a combination of shadows and makeup, but all the actors have very spooky eyes.

3. The shadows and make-up are a little bizarre...
but think what a miracle it must have seemed like to the people who watched these things back then(1918,in this case).

12. That makeup seems odd now doesn't it?
But back then, the makeup looked like that for a reason. It's purpose was to draw attention to the facial features because there was no dialogue. Couple that with the primitive film and cameras.
If you get past that, silents are very enjoyable and very artistic. A lot of these films are loaded with innovation, amazing cinematography and great acting and writing.

4. I happen to like silent movies.

If by "creepy" you mean "they require you to pay attention," then yes, they are very creepy.

On edit: Just imagine what your great-great-grandchildren will think when a Pauly Shore movie airs on TCM 70 years from now.

9. Not me, I LOVE silents.
I love silents. But then, I'm kind stuck in the 1910's anyway, at least as far my (considerable) interest in history.... ;)

10. I collect every silent movie I can get my hands on.
They are an entirely different kind of art. They convey emotions better than the crap produced today.

11. I love silent films!
They had to act with their bodies and facial expressions since there was no dialog (that could be heard). When you think about it; it's a very challenging feat.

I have my very own copy of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." Fining old silents converted to DVD kicks ass! :D

13. I love silent movies
My favorite star is Harold Lloyd.
I recently purchased "Slapstick Encyclopedia".
My young children and I watched all 5 disks over the course of a week or so and we all loved it.
