10. Can you really just pick five?

I have seen several songs listed in this thread that could be on my top five but they immediately lead to something else. For example someone listed Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, but can you really hear that and not then soon after throw on Dark Side of the Moon or Teachers Leave those Kids Alone, Hmmmmmm maybe that is Bush's education theme song?

How about the Stones Sympathy for the Devil? Certainly you have to listen to Paint it Black

I loved the nomination of Little Richards Long Tall Sally, but then you have to listen to his version of Good Golly Miss Molly.

I always have a real dilemma and end up choosing both the Original Hotel California and then the unplugged Hell Freezes over version.

By the way while we are on the subject what the heck is Colitas? And yes it is Colitas it is not one smell could lead us rising up through the air. Does anyone know what Colitas is? I assume some desert flower but looking it up I could not find any definition, I guess it could be something naughty.

23. Israel Kamamamamaamamwa's "Wonderful World/Over the Rainbow"

is my favorite recording of a song ever. It is the fizzy lifting drink of my life, and I save it for occasions of extreme joy or melancholy. Goose bumps, flushed feeling of warmth, etc when I hear it.

Then, there's "Here Comes A Regular" by the Replacements if I'm feeling sad or downbeat, "Bastards of Young" if I'm up and/or angry.

"Perfect Circle" by R.E.M. for the same reasons, and lastly Patsy Cline's version of "You Belong to Me," whether I'm in the mindset of the world traveller or the flame left behind.

Honorable Mention: "Happy Birthday" by Concrete Blonde, which I hole up in my studio with a beer and dance to every March 26th.
