How do I disinstall Microsoft Messenger

One of the kids installed it and I can't find the dis-installer and it'd downloading all sorts of bizarre shit.

I know I took the messenger off my computer awhile, but I don't remember how I did it.

2. First thing I tried

3. I got rid of mine by rightclicking on the icon in the system tray

on the lower right bottom. It should coach you through the uninstall process then. Don´t forget to delete the folder with it in C/Programs as well.

She said it wasn't working.

6. Got rid of it

I ran the program, went to the help files.

When I went back to the control panel, the program was there and I was able to remove it.

the boys use - they loaded so much crap on it it was barely working anyway, so I've repartitioned and reformatted it and I'll reload it when I get around to it. I think I'll give them a standard user account, without the right to load anything. I am the Evil Stepmother.

If you have the XP Service Pack installed (we are talking XP here? ), the messenger should be listed under "Windows Components".

W/o the Service Pack use this command (in a shell or the run dialog) RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

8. worked for me

google xp tricks (or tips) and it will take you to wonderful pages full of info about windows - i got rid of msgr that way.
