I'm quitting DU
for a while, anyway.

I feel that posting a thread about it will make things more official.

I'm trying to remain positive about the upcoming election. I'm trying to tell myself that people will see through Bush's lies and that their attempts to steal the election will fail. If I keep up with all this negative thinking and worrying I'll have a heart attack. For a while people here at DU were pretty upbeat, especially during the primaries when people were talking about how great all our candidates were. However, lots of people now seem to think that being pessimistic makes them smart or realistic. I can't handle the pessimism. As much as I realize the threat of Bush manipulating the media, stealing the election etc. I don't want to hear about it all the time anymore. Nor do I want to hear people suggesting that all our effort and enthusiasm is wasted. Sorry.

I'll see you in May or June, perhaps.

1. Take a break, read some (non-political!) books, and come back soon!

3. Ignore and Hide Thread are wonderful...
I swore I would never use them, but, things change.

For what it is worth: I think we are going to win big!

:hi:

4. It's not even about that.
Yesterday I posted a thread outining what I feared could prevent Kerry from winning, and asked people to prove me wrong. A few people did try to bouy my spirits, but some of them basically said "Stop worrying, Bush will steal the election no matter what so there's nothing you can do about it". One asshole even said something about Bush raping my sister and throwing my dad to the lions. I don't need that attitude.
