Another odd job interview question thread

Any of you ladies (or guys, I guess) been asked if you were a feminist? And how did you answer? My sister in law just got asked this at a beauty salon where she was applying to work. She said yes but with a lot of qualifiers attached...yes, but I'm not this and that kind of feminist... etcetera and managed to get the job... She had the feeling they had an anti-feminist bias.

I didn't think she should have explained so much. Hell yeah, I would have said.

1. My response to that question would have been...

"Why do you ask?" or "What relevance does this have with regards to the job requirements?"

2. I would have turned it around...

and asked "How do you define feminist?"

3. there are really strict rules about the kinds of questions

you can ask at job interviews... that sounds really out of line... your "politics" or world view have no relevance in a job setting...
