Greatest 'B' Side (Nominations)
So, we're talking about songs that don't get the respect they deserve because they were tucked away on an EP or on the flip side. I guarantee that I am the Walrus and Rain by The Beatles will be nominated within fifteen posts, they're fab, but do try and be a little more adventurous. Provide samples if you can.

I'll start with Mersey Paradise by The Stone Roses.

Yeah, that's right, Koolzip, The Stone Roses. Got a problem with that? Huh? Huh?

Sorry. Where was I?

http://entertainment.msn.com/album/Default.aspx?album=126473

It's track 12.

19. Sorry to disappoint you...
...but you're thinking of the "oldies" reissue 45.

"Beyond The Sea" was originally an A-side that was released months after "Mack The Knife" and became a top ten hit in its own right.

you put down a Beatles record, so you can't be a whippersnapper.
I was trying to think of the B side of a really old Beatle record I have "My Bonnie" Beatles with Tony Sheridan ... but I can't remember what it is...brain is shot!

B-side of "Salad Days." If you are the first-ever hardcore band, there is No better way to close out your career that with a Standells cover.

Other nominations:

"(I'll name you) The Flame That Cries" Guided by Voices B-side of "I Am A Tree" single, 1997. (jeez, didn't know THAT one was coming, didja?)

"Mary-Anne With The Shaky Hands" The Who. B-side of "I Can See for Miles," 1967

"My Precious World," Desmond Dekker. B-side of "The Israelites," 1969

"Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath," Anthrax. B-side of "I'm the Man" single ('you know that fuckin' thing - whoops."), 1988

"I'm Not Like Everybody Else," The Kinks. B-side of "Sunny Afternoon," 1966

"Child of the Moon," The Rolling Stone Roses, whoops, I Mean the Rolling Guns and Stones, whoops I mean, the Rolling Stone Guns and Roses. B-side of "Jumpin' Jack Flash," 1968.

18. Wow!
Great choice. I loved how Metallica always chose some obscure Budgie or Diamond Head cover for their B-sides, thus enabling young sprigs like me to discover the songwriting talents of Burke Shelley and others of the early-seventies metal pigpile or the NWOBHM sea-sweep.

Great tune.

26. Err.... That was on the reissue "oldies" 45.
I just pulled out my original 45 on "Hang On Sloopy" on the Bang label. The B-side is called "I Can't Explain It."

"Fever" was actually the McCoys' follow-up to "Hang On Sloopy."
