3. heheh
I just finished the last of it an hour ago.

No, this is an especially nefarious raccoon. A wily one. A clever one. One who has figured out my cat door. And this is a special cat door that requires a magnet to open.

Yes... this is a special adversary. He was in my kitchen the other day, and almost chewed his way into a bag of Iams cat food.

I have met my match. If you don't hear from me for awhile, send help. We're going mano-a-mano.

7. Yes....
they're smart.

And dextrous. And nocturnal. But I, too, am all of those things. It might get ugly, but I shall win. No way am I letting an overgrown mouse have free run of my house. This is war.

11. Yes, I had pet raccoons, too: three in a row.
Despite the fact they don't make the best pets, raccoons are one of my favorite animals. Or maybe it's because they don't make the best pets. :D A few years back we had a raccoon that visited frequently: a female with an atrophied hand. Each June she'd bring her babies to the back porch to eat cat food. One summer we got her a wading pool and put feeder fish in it. They never lasted very long. It was amazing how good the babies were at catching them.

My childhood pet, Joshua:

12. I'm actually quite fond of the raccoons...
I just wish they wouldn't figure out my cat door. I love to watch 'em and if they were polite and respectful, I'd even let 'em in the house. But they're jerks.

I love 'em in my yard. I have a skunk that lives under my house that I refuse to kick out, because I love her. I think she's beautiful and she does me no harm. And I have possums that hang out, and I love them, too.

But the 'coons are the only ones that come in my house, and that's just unacceptable. They tear things up and make a mess.

14. Hey, I understand. They'll tear up your house. :)
Raccoons are such great adaptors, he'll be OK if you relocate him.

19. Yup, they just love the cat food...
... my mom would frequently get concerned 'cuz she'd find raccoons eating out of the cats' bowl... and on 1 or 2 occasions, at the same time as the cats (?!)...

4. Left the door open, didn't you?
Good thing it wasn't a damn possum. I actually had a racoon as a pet when I was a kid.

5. nope...
I have a magnetically-controlled cat door. I got it because the raccoons were just waltzing in through my OLD cat door. I thought this would stop them.

I was wrong. I have already caught and relocated three raccoons who had figured out how to get in. I thought it was over. Now, ONE member of the latest herd knows how to get in. I'm gonna hafta catch him.

I relish the challenge.

10. I know!
I can tell you some pretty funny stories about raccoons in my house. But in the past it was a particular family of them who figured out my old cat door.

This is a special uber-raccoon. Smarter than most. He will be a worthy opponent. But I shall trap him.

18. I, too, have some amusing raccoons-in-the-house stories.
I'd like to hear yours. Mine mostly involve the three raccoons I raised: Josh, Davey and Jessica. I lost my glasses once and discovered that Josh had generously washed them for me...in the toilet. :)

13. I've had two home invasions
By Raccoons. Both times they 'fell' through the ceiling some how (in between the roof and the sheet rock I guess) - This last time, get this.

The Raccoon made its way up to my room (the master bedroom) - Somehow managed to CLOSE the door to the bedroom behind itself. And proceeded to tear my room to shreds. Curtains, carpets, everything.

On top of that, it had been furiously trying to 'dig' under the door that it had closed and cut its paws up on the nails in the wood floor (under the carpet) so there are bloody raccoon paw prints all over my room and it looks like a double murder took place.

I came home and he was scared in my closet - I opened the screen door in my room, turned off all of the lights, closed the door and slept on the couch. In the morning he had may his way out.

15. lol...
yeah, I had one trapped in my house once. It was a night of pure slapstick humor with just a hint of danger.

I have a hava-hart trap that works real well at catching 'em. I then take 'em up to the woods about 8 miles away and let 'em go. I'm afraid this poor guy is gonna give up the happy small-town life.
