2. Well, damn near anything you want!
Wanna eat? Pick a continent, then a culture. You'll find something near it in the Capitol/State area. Morrocan? Nepalese? Nigerian? No sweat.

Drink imports? Listen to Music? Coffee and politics? Indy films? Lotsa choices

If it's warm, State street will be pretty lively on a Friday night -- that's always a good start.

My advice: Start at one end of State street (either the Capitol or the University), then just sort of wander to the other end. You will probably find something to do before you hit the other end of State street.

(in case you can't tell, my wife and I really like it here...wouldn't move if you paid us)

4. Lofty's talking about
State Street. It runs from the main part of campus up to the capitol. I'm pretty sure that's the last weekend before finals, so of course all of the students will be in the libraries, studying! :)

Any particular sort of music you like? I can check with my kids to see if they have specific recommendations.

5. Definitely STate Street!
One of the best venues for "people watching" in the world. I love the sights and sounds and visit it every chance I get.

6. If it's a nice day
Go down to the Union and sit by the lake and watch the boats and the people getting drunk.

State Street always has lots going on.

When I used to live in Madison (93-97) while in grad school, the bar I spent the most time in was the Plaza. Is that still there? Friends used to spot Brett Favre there in his drinking days.
