I hate March! Winter Storm headed toward Boston
:wtf:

We haven't had a snowstorm since early December! We are expecting 6-12" IN THE CITY and more in the 'burbs. It's supposed to snow through tomorrow evening. We usually escape big snow totals right along the coast. The trees are budding, the crocuses are coming up, and they'll be buried under a blanket of snow. :-(

Well, at least it will keep the amateur drunks inside for St. Patrick's Day.

7. How about the April Fool's Blizzard-April 1, 1997?
I was working for a company with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. They called the Boston office and no one answered, and they thought we were playing an April Fool's joke. We weren't-we got 18" of snow, and the subway closed down.

The funny thing was: the week before the storm, it was 80 degrees, and I was sitting in my backyard drinking margaritas.

Crazy Boston weather..

6. Sucks, doesn't it?
And as if that weren't enough, we may get another fucking snowstorm on Friday--the day I was supposed to drive 300 miles to Pennsylvania so that Lisa (liberalhistorian) and I could finally meet. Looks like it ain't gonna happen now! Of course, it also doesn't help that Lisa just found out she's losing her job, but that's a whole other rant.

Whenever things start to look up for me, something worse always happens to fuck it up! It never fails. ;(

10. Same boat - I leave early AM to DC, -come back Sun so I miss the
Boston Thursday/Friday storm.

But I dread tomorrow and the snow plow barrier that with 12 to 16 inches will be about 3 feet of heavy wet snow.

:-(

Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 01:16 PM by papau
sigh ....

:-)

18 inches fell Monday in one isolated area, around Sioux City - but other areas are getting 4 to 6 inches - or a "dusting"

A fast moving storm - I just hope it does not "stall" over Cape Cod.

It just started snowing here...
Two of our schools have one snow day left, but one of them has no days left because it had to be shut down once because of a boiler malfunction. If we call a snow day for tomorrow, they will have to give back a day over spring break.....wonder how many people will actually show up?

13. Argh
I hate winter. We just got back from a week in Arizona where it was 90 every day. And now this. I was really hoping spring was actually going to happen here this year.

Thankfully the Cape is supposed to get less than Boston -- for a change. It seems that so many storms lately have been coastal.

And thankfully I didn't put my winter clothes away yet.

Here, in the Normally Colder Northern Suburbs of Philadelphia, we're due for about three inches.

Maybe I'll put on some Christmas music this afternoon.

6 inches of powder expected in the Hudson Valley.

23. I'm not panicking yet, go to weather.com and watch the animated map
It's coming more from the south with warmer skies than from Canada/NY State.

The weathermen here are a bunch of self-inflating Assholes trying to scare people into the supermarkets anyway.

I hereby predict a dusting north of the Mass Pike, max 4 inches.

They do love to scare the hell out of people. It's too warm to snow in Boston-hopefully it will be a 'rain event', as the weatherman like to say.

27. Have faith in the big D
*gawd I hope I'm not wrong* but - watch this

http://www.weather.com/outlook/driving/map/01701?from=LAPmaps&name=index_large_animated&day=1

See how it's moving parallel to the coast? This means A) It's not picking up more moisture from the ocean to dump - B) It's hopefully petering out over Connecticutt and C) they aren't clouds from colder northern areas. Also note the gap of light cloud coverage that's sailing over Metrowest then Boston.

Here's the same map over Trenton NJ

http://www.weather.com/outlook/driving/map/08601?from=LAPmaps&name=index_large_animated&day=1

See how far it's moving in the span of an hour? And it's almost halfway over us so far, and here in Framingham I haven't seen anything yet...

*crosses fingers - stands by his claim - 4 inches max*
