A new poem...this one's dark.
“A Death in the Family”

Where’d she go?
I haven’t seen much of her
She shows up for meals
Not much else

She isn’t talking
Head down
Eyes averted
Doesn’t want company
She’s gone after eating.

Oh there she is
Over there
In that dark corner
She’s reading
That’s the most social thing
I’ve seen her do in a while

No, no
Leave her alone
If you approach her
Well, nothing good comes of it.

She acts as though there’s been

A death in the family

1. Good, but I think it could be even longer.
Just my $.02.

2. Thanks, my dear BlueIris...
Constructive criticism is always welcome!

It could be longer, I suppose...

It felt right to me to stop where I did.

4. My dear Parche...
Ah, I've heard that quote, but never knew who said it...

Thank you, sweetie, for informing me!

And how true it is, too...

5. I can relate to that although maybe from a different perspective
The poem describes the way I probably looked outwardly when I was struggling with a mental illness. I didn't talk much. I prefered to not be around people. I was constantly in pain. I was hostile at times.

Nice work, Peggy.

6. My dear Tobin!
Now, that's an interesting perspective.

I thank you for that...it's something I had not considered.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I am just grumpy...

17. I saw your post in the sinking thread linking to this, so I thought I
would kick it, even if I don't like depressing things. Therefore the "Hmmm...." with no comment. Anyhoo, I have to go to bed soon; on the road back home tomorrow. Should be there by Thursday. Yay! Don't like traveling; being places is ok, but not travelling...

10. My dear CPeg, that is a beautiful poem and if you used a he, it
would describe my oldest brother to a Tee. Unfortunately, he passed away in September 2007 due to an accident. Thank you for the lovely poem!

19. Your are right, it's
a bit dark. I'm still contemplating how I feel about this poem. Mixed emotions, but maybe that was your intention.

20. My dear Callalily...
Well, I didn't have any real intentions with this one. I was in a dark place, and I wanted to get it expressed...

Thank you for your comments!

I always appreciate them.
