Dawn Of The Dead?
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 01:17 PM by FireHeart
Did anyone see the first 10 minutes of DOTD during the showing of "Final Destination" last night? I was rather startled at how much they varied from the original film.

Those zombies moved *way* too fast, and seemed as intelligent as they were when they were still alive. Only they growled a lot. In the original film, they were stupid and relatively slow moving--which would make sense, considering their general physical condition.

I dunno if I want to see this remake.

Any comments?

Edited for minor typo.

7. Hehe
My wife wouldn't watch it, either. :)

2. My wife wants to go (which I find peculiar)
She usually avoids "horror" movies but the previews of this "DOTD" have somehow intrigued her.

3. I haven't seen the trailer
but I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. I'm a bit skeptical, since the remake of "Night" was so awful, but hope springs eternal.

4. Kind of torn
George Romero's sadistically funny comment on American consumer culture in the classic original version is hard to beat and it seems like an inevitable disappointment.

Remaking classics is usually a bad thing.

Even the Lotr guy remaking King Kong next.

6. That was one of the things...
that disappointed me--the trailer showed the lack of the humor of the original and the first 10 minutes really displayed the WIDE variation from the original theme. (Night Of The Living Dead)

You are right, remaking classics is usually a bad thing. Sometimes folks just don't care to leave well enough alone.

Can you imagine a remake of "Forbidden Planet"? There was a rumor that they are trying to find funding for it, but I can't verify that.

But geez.

11. Yeah, that looks good.
Ron Perleman (sp) seems to play bad guys all time, so this time around he plays a good bad guy...or bad good guy...??? I'm confused.

10. I'm torn as well...
On one hand the original is a classic so why re-make it?

On the other hand it does look good and has a good cast. And I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the Texas Chainsaw re-make.

12. Interesting choice in ad placement
We were at one of the big theaters in our area the other day seeing Secret Window. While waiting for the show to start we were looking at the movie posters in the halls. Just in front of the exit from The Passion they had a DOTD poster positioned to catch everyone on exiting. Form your own connections.
