Poll question: Life or Death
With advances being made in medical technology (stem cells, telameres, cloning) it may one day be possible to extend our lives as long as we desire to live. Would you take advantage of this technology or would you avoid it and let death come naturally. Note the medical potential is not to let you linger in an aged stated. It would mean you would live for as long as you choose in the peak of your health. Others would also have access to this technology so you would not be cut off from loved ones (unless they chose not to use it).

1. I would sign up
But only once to get rid of my diabetes. That being said I don't think this technology is gonna be in the mainstream with the health care system we have now. It will be reserved for the wealthy.

I'd love to live for a while without having to worry about it all the time... did you read about the stem cell research where they cured mice??!

Yeah I have. I would have to move back to Maryland to be in the study but I can't afford it. :(

I heard they have had great results and it's your own stem cells.

Edit: Hold on. I'll get the link.

3. Can I do it for my dog?
She's really stubborn, demands a lot of attention and takes up a lot of my time, but I would like to see her life extended.

I wish she wasn't too old to take hiking.

5. I want to live at least a bit longer
I am only 26 years old though. My older grandmother said that young people think that they never want to die. She said that by the time you are in your 60s that you start to accept the idea of death. I want to live at least into my triple digits. I had a great grandmotherwho did that naturually so I might be able to also. It would be nice to live that long with my current body though. Maybe, if I'd live a long time, I'd be more accepting of death, but for now, I don't want the game to be over any time soon.
