God, I feel depressed....
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 03:30 PM by NightTrain
This Friday, the 19th, Lisa (a/k/a liberalhistorian) and I were both to drive 300 miles from our respective stomping grounds to Pennsylvania, where we were to finally meet face to face. We had planned this weekend at least two months ago and were both champing at the bit for it to get here.

So what happens? First, the weather people predict a fucking snowstorm for this Friday. Then Lisa gets the news that she'll soon be out of work. Because of the latter, she's justifiably afraid to spend the money for her half of what our weekend together would've cost. And since I'm perpetually short of cash, I couldn't simply volunteer to foot the bill myself.

Consequently, we've postponed our meet-up until some unspecified future date. And what should've been the happiest week either of us has had in ages has turned out to be anything but!

I don't know why I bother....

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

1. Sorry to hear it.
I hope you two can reschedule soon. Perhaps May Day?

2. Awwwww, man...

It's just a speedbump in the road, not a roadblock. Do something constructive. Go running, workout, go see a movie, draw something, play some music....get your mind off the weather...

You can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather.

6. How much snow?
Blizzard conditions or just some flakes? Which is a bigger obstacle, weather or money?

Money! By a long shot. For both of us.

16. Between food, gas and lodging for the both of us...
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 04:41 PM by NightTrain
...I'd say the weekend would cost somewhere between $300 and $400. But when you're rent-poor (like me) or about to become unemployed (like Lisa), it might as well be $3-4 million!

10. Sorry to hear it, Train.
Are you postponing or flat-out cancelling?

11. Just postponing...
...until we can figure out a more amicable date to hook up. Preferably when it's not going to snow and when we can afford to sleep somewhere besides the back seat of my car!

13. Well...
There's something to be said for the nuances of a backseat as well.

:freak:

Good luck, young lovers.

15. Well, if you wait
until it's warmer, you can always go camping. And what could be more romantic than a campfire, a bottle of wine and you and your sweetie underneath a canopy of stars. :-)

Hang in there, not the end of the line, just a bump in the road. You both have waited this long, what's a little more time?

12. You sound so disappointed...
here's a hug:hug:

When you feel like it, it might be good to go ahead and start planning attempt #2. Then you'll have something to look forward to again. It can't snow forever!

Maybe you can think of some creative ways to get some $ too.

I know everyone here wishes you happiness!:)
