So what have you poor deprived people done all day
with no shortbus threads in the Lounge?!? I see that the well-worn kink thread made it back up to page one for a time, but I feel compelled to offer up something fresh, so...

Ask me something, tell me something, or issue me an imperative and wait with bated breath to see if I heed it.

Go on... you know you wanna.

1. OK shortbus - a question:
Why do you suppose this thread has dropped like a leaden weight with nary a response (save mine)?

4. Thanks for the question, WaB
and might I say, you're looking particularly handsome this evening.

Anyway, as for the unpopularity of the thread, it could be any number of things. But I'm personally convinced of a conspiracy involving the Freemasons. That "Khephra" is behind this here evil, no doubt.

2. Personally, I've been patching servers all day
and helping our panicked teachers who are calling in for help with their home computers. The blaster worm has got people hopping. It hasn't gotten in here (knock on wood), but I'm patching anyway. Some of our teachers are really freaking - they're trying to get ready for school starting in a couple of weeks, and just now discovering their home computers are toasted.

5. I don't envy you that at all
I can only imagine what the scene was like back at UNC today. I've been unaffacted here, although it looks now like DU2 is having spasms again...

Anyways, good for you for doing your part to deworm the web today.

3. Usual stuff
Laundry, Grocery shopping, work, cooking, chatting on the phone with BritishHuman for a couple of hours, cleaning up after my aged and enfeebled cat who yarked on the rug...

Why? What have you poor depraved people done all day?

No, of course that wasn't a typo.

7. Wow! Told me something AND asked me something!
I spent a bit of time out in the scrub pines again, cleaning up the ones I cut down 2 days ago, and cutting down more. Like a complete "moran," I decided it would be OK to drag fallen pines around with short sleeves, so my forearms each look like they've been beaten with a cat o nine tails and I'm still finding sap in odd places not to mention that damned tree I caught with my head and the resultant moderately ugly scalp laceration.

Me? I slept in late.

Happy?

8. Sorry Dave,
I just don't like you like that.

Ooh - one other thing I did today... I found some really cool mushrooms out in the yard that I've never seen before. They're dayglo orange, which probably means they're poisonous as hell, but they just look so tasty...

10. Sat for 2 and a half hours in the pediatrician's office across town
because they couldn't get my kids in together. Needed a sports physical for the 13 year old and a hearing and vision test for the newly minted 5 year old. They made us wait so long so they could see us together, which kind of pisses me off, because they could have called, and I could have left the house later, but Nooooooo. But we do like the doctor....end rant here.

P.S. vision and hearing fine, daughter allowed to try and break leg on basketball court again this year.

11. Don't they
do sports physicals at school anymore? I remember there always being a "physicals day" ahead of every new practice season in school.

Myself, I follow the 30 minute rule with doctors. I show up 5 minutes early for all doctor appoinments, and I wait precisely 25 minutes after checking in to be called back, or approached by staff and offered an explanation as to why I haven't yet been called back. One minute longer than the allotted 25 with no contact and I'm out the door and not likely to come back. I've had mixed results.

Phew... what a chore! ;-) Stopped to rest at these places along the way. (Both in my district)

Here is a map of my trip. TeeHee. (It stops at the Canadian bordor) Maine Legislative Districts are apportioned by approx. 8k people per district. I have to drive 3-4 hours to get from one end of my district to another.

On edit: Not that I'm bragging or anything. ;-) OK. Yes I am... But I can't help but think I represent probably the most beautiful District in Maine. :-)
