I'm getting hate messages on my answering machine

Our local newspaper printed a letter to the editor that I submitted in response to an article referring to Kerry as "Senator flip-flop." Basically it called attention to Bush's own flip-flops (nothing new - same stuff we read on these boards.)

Anyway, the message asked why I would write all those lies in the paper. The caller ended by saying "Thank you" and that she would have said "sir" but I wasn't deserving of it. It was great!

Good for you, and welcome to DU! Fortunately for me, my son and I live with my parents, and they have a different last name than I do and it's not in the phone book, so when I write my letters I don't have to worry about the wingnut nutballs being able to find me!

Isn't it amazing, btw, that they can dish it out with relish, but they just can't stand even a teensy, weensy taste of their own medicine? Yes, indeed, the "don't-give-me-the-facts-my-mind-is-made-up crowd is something else, aren't they?

...back in '93 after writing letters to the editor about Fallwell and his crusade against socialized healthcare with his video tapes of how Bill Clinton was a MURDERER and drug runner....I was informed that I was supporting the DEVIL and JEZABELLE!! I didn't like it nor did I find it humorous...because these people are insane and in the majority down here. :grr:

14. I called her back

There was a US Cellular number, no name, on my caller ID. I called it back and when the lady answered (same one, I could tell by the drawl), I said "Hello, your number was on my caller ID and I..." At this point she starts saying "Hello, Hello, Anyone there" and hangs up.

I wonder if she gets charged for incoming calls. I'd post her number. :evilgrin:

Much of the time, my letters to the editor are satiric, which means that even well-meaning liberals frequently misunderstand them. Judging by the long, angry, clueless replies that my letters often generate, I can well imagine what a phone call from one of those people would be like! :evilgrin:
