She's in town on vacation, and we discovered that I live near where she's vacationing!

So today we got together and had a lovely walk on the Pier, where a nice young woman took our picture!

It looks like they haven't painted the rail on the Manhattan Beach Pier since I left that area in 1989.

But maybe it's just the salt.

There was a time in my life when I used to run between the Hermosa Pier and the Manhattan Pier and back every day.

I was, sigh, young then...

I have a very beautiful picture of my wife before we were married on the Hermosa Pier, with the Manhattan Pier in the background.

It was our first trip together and we stayed at the Sea Sprite in Hermosa...

17. Yeah, that's it. On the Strand, just south of Pier in Hermosa.

It was actually a little funky but still quite nice, very, um, romantic.

We had some lovely evenings there.

And you should visit California some time. It's beautiful. I've been up and down this amazing (and very long) state and love all the different scenery: ocean, beaches, mountains, forests, deserts, vineyards, cities, lakes, fields, streams, orchards. Sigh...

36. I never get tired of the ocean. I'm trying to soak up as much as I can while

I'm still here. After CP dropped me off I walked for another two hours along the Strand with my sister's dog (I'm dog-sitting while she is out of town). It's just so lovely.
