Need Help. What's a dmg file?
I just downloaded a 23.2MB file from Symantec - upgrade to Norton Virus Protect 9.0 (Mac).

The file arrived with the tag ".dmg" (as in "Norton_AntiVirus_ESD_9.0.dmg")

I've never seen that before. Symantec's instructions are to unstuff and install from the folder, but this isn't a compressed file. Ergo, I can't unstuff to get to an install process.

Any ideas?

2. a DMG file is a mountable disk image
usually you find software installation CDs compressed into this format, which is similar to IMG.

Also, I believe that a .dmg is specifically for OSX.

5. I guess that's why I can't open it

...I'm running 9.2.2

BTW - I specifically asked for the Norton version for 9.2 I wonder why the download came as a X version. I'll have to see it there's a problem at their site.

On edit: Symantec's site defintely says this download is compatible with OS 9.0 or higher and OS X. I've asked them to send me a CD.

Thanks for the help.
