The West Wing?
What's up with The West Wing (TV show)? It's not on tonight and if I'm not mistaken, it wasn't on last Wednesday either.

1. They're really losing it
The West Wing has been going down in the ratings the last couple of seasons. Losing Rob Lowe didn't help. :(

I think the quality of the show is still decent but it is hard to follow if you don't keep up with it and maybe that's why it's hard for the show to pick up new viewers.

2. It's not just The West Wing
NYPD Blue, Law & Order (all of 'em), Third Watch.... a lot of shows are doing this lately. Show a few new ones, show a few reruns, then skip off for a few weeks... then come back with more new shows.

It's annoying as hell.

3. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear
I wasn't asking what happened to the quality or ratings of the show. I was asking where is the show itself. It hasn't aired in it's timeslot (or anywhere except for Bravo reruns) for at least two weeks. Has it been cancelled?!

4. Hasn't been cancelled
but it has been pre-empted a lot lately. Not really a good sign but who knows? If NBC doesn't air it during May sweeps, I'll say it'll be cause for concern.

Expect it to be back on Wednesday nights next week most likely.

The networks are always expirimenting with their schedules in march.

5. That's life during non-sweeps months
unfortunately. I couldn't find any new info about the show.

7. The next show is scheduled for 3/24/04
There's often a lag in programming for network television just after February sweeps.

8. I don't know
ER hasn't been on either; must be saving the new episodes for sweeps. Another thing- Why the hell is Law and Order on all the damn time?? I know there are maybe 3-4 different versions of the franchise (SVU, Criminal Intent, etc) but I am sick to death of one of them being on every single night. Plus the reruns are on cable all the time too. The show is boring.

9. The West Wing was about a President one could believe in.
Considering that Martians are in residence these days, writers can't really come up with good story lines for the Bartlett Administration. I mean you can't speak of war in President Bartlett's administration because President Bartlett would never have done anything so stupid, so self serving and so evil as the invasion of Iraq and yet it permeates our lives today.

I do agree with the DU'er who once said that they should have Bartlett defeated somehow, preferably by the devious but legal means a fascist regime would do to get into power. They could assassinate Bartlett and anyone who would get in the way so their boy the Speaker of the House, a really horrid Republican could become President. Then it would be an easy script write to expose this administration, peeling back and exposing what is going on like an onion.

Of course Martin Sheen and most of the cast would be replaced. I would like to see them watching on the sidelines at different jobs but meeting together once a month to comment on what their replacements are doing.

10. good idea, but...
If they assassinate Bartlett and anyone who would get in their way, where will they all meet to comment on what their replacements are doing? In heaven? You know that in order to be realistic with the current Republican mindset and tactics it would have to be a bloodbath. They'd have to mow down the entire West Wing until the twitching stopped.

Still, some kind of 'regime change' done in a ruthless Republican manner would be good. Maybe they can do another coup d'etat impeachment farce in the House.
