Anyone else have Netflix problems with new releases?
I usually go through 2-3 movies a week on my Netflix membership.

I always mail back my movies Monday morning so that they arrive at Netflix Monday night or Tuesday morning, so that they are sending my next movies on Tuesday when new releases come out.

At first this was fine but lately they are sending me movies that are way down on my queue, and then the new releases that were at the top of my list then stay on my queue with "long wait" next to them for the next couple of weeks.

If I have to wait 2 months to see a new release then this isn't worth it. Anyone else have this problem? I had it when the service first started 2 years ago, then I cancelled my membership. Someone convinced me to start it up again, saying it had gotten better. But now it seems like I'm having the same problem again and again.

1. No, my queue is filled with oldies, classics and weird stuff
that no one else would ever rent.

2. Yeah, I get that stuff too.....
But I own a lot of dvd's so if I want older, weirder movies I can pull them from my own collection. Or go to the video store.

I just don't want to pay $20 just for old movies.

3. My list is filled with TV shows like the Shield, 24, Stargate SG-1,
and stuff like that. I can understand like everywhere new releases would be hard to get because everyone wants them.

Keep complaining. Maybe they will purchase more of the new releases.

4. No, I have not had any problem.
Sometimes, they will mark the a new release with "long wait." But that is very seldom.

5. Yes - I have to wait months for popular new releases
Also, have you ever looked at what Netflix considers to be new releases? I've never found popular new releases under their new release list. I just quit using the new release list after I joined. Now I go to the Blockbuster site, then enter the new releases in my list.

Even so, Netflix is worth it to me. It's a bit of a drive for me to go to either Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.

6. I agree about their new release list...
It is absolutely no help at all.

Another good site to go to is www.timefordvd.com since that site lists all upcoming new releases by week. So you can put stuff on your queue far enough in advance. I've found that site to be a big help.

Also looking on Amazon's upcoming and new release page is even more helpfull.

7. Write them an email.
I bet if enough people complained, they would clean up their act.

Sounds like they just don't invest in enough copies of new, popular DVDs. (They buy quite a few and must get them at a big discount anyway.)

Their whole biz model is based on offering a more attractive service (vs the local rental storefront). If they lose that edge, no business....

Personally, the "no late fee" is what sold me.

8. Huh. Never had the problem
Then again, I usually know when things that I want to see are coming out and pre-load them into my queue.

I've been the first person to see several "new releases..." or, at least I think so, as I've gotten them in my mailbox the same day as they come out onto the market...

I tend to watch more independant/foreign films though, so perhaps my experiences aren't typical.

9. Nope
But then, I don't really care about new releases.

I just had my first release disappear in the mail, but I'm fairly convinced that's our mailman.

10. No
That hasn't happened to me yet, and I have new releases in my queue all the time.
