Courtney Love Arrested on Assault Charge
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 12:45 p.m. ET

NEW YORK (AP) -- A few hours after a loopy ``Late Show'' appearance in which she lifted her shirt to expose her breasts at least six times, rocker Courtney Love was arrested early Thursday for allegedly throwing a microphone stand and striking a man in the head.

The 24-year-old man was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. Police said they were charging Love with reckless endangerment and third-degree assault after the 2:30 a.m. incident at a posh Manhattan nightclub.

Messages left for representatives of Love early Thursday weren't immediately returned.

Love, who is facing felony drug charges in California, repeatedly lifted her olive shirt several times on David Letterman's CBS talk show.

1. It's a really sad act that Courtney's got going. It's been done...
and done well. I hope she takes her "outrageous" behavior and fades away quickly.

If she disappeared from the scene today, how long would she be remembered? I can't even work up fifteen seconds.

2. All for ratings
Shows usually cancel and do reruns when something during taping is so outrageous or something goes wrong. Courtney was obviously on something and totally out of control. Why run that show? Bad decision by Letterman.

3. Didn't Madonna Flash Letterman?
Or maybe it was Drew Barrymore... I can't remember. But I do recall that she turned her back to the audience (and the camera) to flash her boobs at Letterman.

Or am I totally insane and imagined the whole thing?

10. Letterman always talks about Drew Barrymore "taking off all her

clothes on the show." I didn't see her do it but I've seen her on the show two or three times in the last couple of years.

Last time Madonna was there, she lectured Dave that he should marry his child's mother. I think it's funny that she's raising her children so strictly (NO TV, only kids' movies shown on VCR once a week,) and Snoop was on Leno last week talking about requiring his kids to respect adults, especially their parents, and being the disciplinarian in the family. Naughty rockers becoming more traditional parents than their own parents are, LOL.

7. Watching Letterman last night showed me that Courtney's

in trouble, and I am not talking about the legal charges against her. I hope she finds her way . I was wondering last night how her child is. Kurt and my brother committed suicide the same year so I know firsthand how family members suffer after a suicide. Everything I've read says suicide is hardest on those who survive after someone they love kills himself -- worse than when someone dies in an accident or from disease, even worse than murder because when there's a suicide, the dead person chose death, apparently not giving a shit about those who loved him. My brother and I were not close as adults but we loved each other a lot as kids and it's been very difficult for me. He was my brother and I'd have done almost anything to save him if I could have.

Maybe Courtney's a crazy bitch but she's had a lot of grief, what with Kurt's blowing his brains out and leaving her with a baby and the aftermath of people blaming her for Kurt's death, etc. I wish her the best because even if she is a crazy bitch as some people claim, she has a child who lost her daddy in a horrible way and needs all the strength and love she can get from her mother.

I don't know what Letterman should have done last night. I thought he was handling the situation fairly well. Guests who are wired and defiant, almost combative, are a dilemma on live television and Courtney may have set a new standard for outre behavior last night.

9. very well put!
I missed the show but it sounds painful and sad. Incidents last October, now this. If one was a cynic one might think this incident well-timed publicity for her new release but I feel as you do that she is really in some personal trouble. I hope she finds the strength to clean up her act such that she can survive outside institutions, whether criminal justice or chemical dependency.

11. Thanks, I did find it painful to watch. It seemed more
than just a bad girl act/ publicity stunt.. I don't like seeing people in psychic trouble, with the possible exception of evil people who have stolen from those less fortunate, exploited others, etc., and then it's payback time.

8. I'm shocked
She seems pretty lost for some time now. (Although she seemed more lucid in the "Larry Flynt" days.
