But it's hard to define. Looks of course are important (to me at least). I like small to medium sized breasts and a cute little butt - the latter is very important. I also tend to like a prominent proboscis - very sexy to me.

But it's more than looks. There has to be something unusual about the gal. She's never the real popular one, and might be a bit reserved and/or wear glasses. One thing that always gets my attention: when I see a girl dancing, I mean really dancing, by herself at a concert or show. I do that and it makes me feel like I may have something in common with her. Oh yeah, she also must have a clue...

And sadly, politics. I can't separate the person from their stand on important issues. I wouldn't date a republican if my life depended on it (and it just may, some day). Even more sadly - I live in the south, where even the Democrats are conservative. Help!

I tend on a superficial basis to prefer tall men and dated a number of them before my husband (who's of average height, so it's not a requirement or anything). Right now, I prefer slightly older (35-45) as well because I've lived enough that I would have little in common with most men my age. I like men who have a good balance of being open-minded when it comes to matters of intimacy, but still monogamous within relationships. I like men who are confident enough to not be threatened by who I am or what I need and can appreciate a woman who is strong, somewhat dominant in personality, yet very soft, emotional, and nurturing at the same time.

Certain things are non-negotiable such as intelligence and politically left of center. It's pretty rare I find that I click with anyone just right actually and it's hard to explain why I have when I did.
