Anyone have/ever had dredlocks?
I used to have them ages ago; thinking about doing it again. But mine maybe weren't the best ones ever made, considering I did it myself with beezwax and rose oil...

What the best way to go about making them so that they a) look nice, b) don't smell too funky, and c) stay intact, instead of eventually looking flat and matted? I'd think it would be best to have them started professionally...any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. :hi:

(Unless you're gonna say don't do it, then you can just bugger off. :P:D)

1. I wish.
I've always liked dreds, but my hair is too fine. I tried to fake it when my hair was long, but it just looked stupid. Now I look like Joe Business-dude. <sigh>

3. I always make the joke
that since I'm half jewish/half gentile, I have half kinky/half straight hair. Which would be funnier if it weren't true. :D

Mine will dred just fine, if I can ever sort out the best method to use. ;)

8. Words easily wasted. Message brief.
Dreadlocked hair once when sixteen for fortnight, to annoy foreigners. Odd resemblance to little Rage Against Machine man. Not flattering.

9. Ms. Seventhson here
I dreaded one year ago to protest the war. They are holding together nicely. Not perfect, but tight. I used the backcombing method and used Knotty Boy wax and shampoo.
Their website has great how to info, message board, etc.

10. I have dreads now.
I started them myself and have used different things over the years to maintain them. For a while I didn't put anything in my hair at all. I'd simply twist the new growth after shampooing. I'd do this while my hair was still wet. Recently, I found a line of products that I really like. The brand name is "Organic Root Stimulator". They make shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, locking gel, and scalp cleaner, and a "dry" shampoo. Look for it a your local CVS.

12. I've actually heard of that
well, read about it...I'll have get some of that. When I had them before I could never find any of those "dry" shampoos, even though I knew they had them. Glad to see they're more accessible now. Thanks, skypilot! :hi:
