And Star Trek is not about anti-matter. Although that is the tech they talk about in the engines. However it could be seen as a metaphor for many things.
And the entire series of Star Trek is about many things, and with the possible wide interpretations of your statement somehow defining the many meanings of my comment, the picture, or Star Trek, I have to guess what you mean by anti-matter. There could be a few bad interpretations which I will ignore, but there are also philosophical ideas on opposing forces in conflict to actually create things.
It could be based on the whole idea of opposites combining to create something new. But putting so much weight just on anti-matter is a bit of a missing of the concept in my view. Also the concept has flaws in that it says matter and anti-matter are destroyed when in contact.
But you point out something in the show. In some way an engine that is fueled by collisions of polar opposites points to many doctrines. They do not match the doctrine I believe in, but many in society have view points on them.
There are many cultures that see both positive forces and adversity as having a role with less judgement then some other cultures.
Some of the common thoughts on that is the journey from East to South to West to North, where East is birth, South is adversity, West is death, and North is rest.
Also philosophies about Yin and Yang match that idea of polar opposites being a part of all things.
There is a common use of the number 76 also to represent that idea, in the Hitchhiker's guide 42 is the answer, and the world was built to find the question, 7 being heavenly, 6 being adversity 7 * 6 = 42.
In my belief adversary is never celebrated, but it is true there are difficult things in life, but none that a person can not overcome. Those things can happen, but they can also lead people to a better way to reflect and think on life. Also in my belief, if a person is up against adversary they should not fight it with more adversary but with better virtues. Although we all fall short of that and fail at times, just like we all do good at times.
But either way, the engines of Star Trek are not just anti-mater, but they include the reaction between matter and anti-matter in the fictional discussion on a TV show.
