Capturing audio?

Anyone know of a piece of software that can capture audio right from the sound card?

1. Total Recorder can get any sounds...

...played on your computer, whether they are Real Audio/video or whatever, even if they're streaming.

2. Most sound cards let you record "loop" or "mix" input...

...but figuring out how to configure it is another matter...

In the Windows master volume control, go to Options->Properties, and select the radio button for "recording". This will bring up the volume controls that tell what to record. Make sure your "stereo mix" volume is a a reasoable level, and any program that records (gold wave, cool edit, audacity), should be able to record it as it plays.

This is how I capture most of the quotes in my music (see sig.) and it works fine for me.
