woken at 3:40AM by a sales pitch

telemarketers calling at dinner time are annoying enough...

but the cat sitting on the TV remote at 3:40am and tuning into a shopping network is where I draw the line....

My alarm is set for 4:00am - so the cats are use to an early morning feeding time. Usually I awake to at least 2 of the 4 cats doing an imitation of a hungry vulture, peering into my face from the window sill above the bed.

apparantly, vulture imitations were not adequate and the cat's internal clocks were running fast - one of them sat on the TV remote and tuned into the home shopping network where I was woken by some guy selling some super-duper cleaning machine...

How does your cat(s)/dog(s) wake you up?

1. Sara .."nurses" on my earlobe..LOUDLY....

and she DROOLS !!..Marvin lays across my neck and purrs LOUDLY..

Momma cat lays on my feet..and will NOT move..

Basically, I sleep like I am in a furry, noisy straight jacket..

2. My seven cats are well behaved

About three weeks ago my grey-stripped cat had five black tiger-striped kittens. So far they have not broken any rules.

The kittens will be avalable for adoption in a few months. Unfortunatly, most of my cat-loving friends already have too many cats, so I may offer the kittens to DU members who reside in Northern Wisconsin.

3. When I used to have dialup internet

I would sometimes log on and be an hour or so online.

Sometimes my dog would feel deprived of attention while I was on the computer so he would hit the speakerphone button on the phone in the other room which would disrupt the internet connection. Naturally I would come to turn off the speakerphone where he'd be waiting with tail wagging for some pats and scratches. I have no idea how he figured out how to make a pattern out of this and turn the pavlovian tables on me.

4. that is one very smart dog

At 5 a.m. (it is now almost 6) my cat dragged a bottle of treats in the BR. She stood up on her hind legs and tried to open the top, a screw-off lid, with her paws. When she couldn't get it, I saw her leverage the container against the chest of drawers. I thought, "Well if you're that hungry I'd better get up and feed you." Soon my way to the kitchen, halfway across the LR floor, I see she'd dragged a plastic container of DeliCat, which is about her size. Interesting, because that meant she had to open the cabinet, pull it out, and drag it nearly to the BR.

5. Amber used to fax things..

well she tried to.. the fax was in her path to the greenhouse window, and she would step on the keypad.. Since no one here could find the book to figure how to get the error message to go away, I gave it to my son and said.. order a book.. here's a fax..:)

We can't fight the kitties...they outnumber us.. they know where we keep the catnip, and they break into it every now and then and go nutso..:scared:

6. Every morning when

the dogs need to go out they send our Lab, Mingus, over to wake me up. He just comes over and sits real close to the bed and stares at me. For some reason it never fails to wake me up, maybe he is close enough that his breath does the job. It is a wonderful way to wake up since the moment my eyes open I can see his brighten and hear his tail start to swish. It is wonderful to see someone smile just because you returned to conciousness and always starts the day off nicely. This morning it did not last long, trash all over the living room floor. Same sweet tailswisher is a horrible trash hound.
