Mississippi casino runs ads deriding Alabama bingo halls
MONTGOMERY -- A Mississippi casino group has begun airing ads deriding bingo halls and urging would-be gamblers to come to "real" casinos.

Pearl River Resort is airing ads on radio and television in the Birmingham area that emphasize the table games, regulation and amenities offered at the resort's two hotels and casinos.

Although the ads don't mention Alabama by name, the commercial tries to draw a distinction.

"Some states have slot parlors and unregulated gaming. Who knows who is controlling those games? They can do whatever they want," a man in one advertisement says.

"Come visit the real casinos at Pearl River Resort. Real slots. Real table games. And a real fair chance to win," the ad concludes.

Pearl River Resort spokesman Warren Strain said customers often want the full resort and casino experience that he said Pearl River provides. "They want the table games and the other amenities."

"One of our primary market draws is Alabama," Strain said.

3. Mississippi can be as snarky as it wants to be. That won't change the fact that it will still
be Mississippi...

7. I know what you mean. I was born and raised in Texas.
But I've lived up North so long, I tend to join in the fun a little too readily. OTOH, I know first hand that there are good things about the South. So there is that...

2. yep
There are some nice casinos in Biloxi, MS., Beau Rivage is pretty swank. The bingo halls here in AL, are nothing but junk. I hope there is a way to shut them down. They have popped up in multitudes in low-rent neighborhoods like my own, and our property values only go down with them, instead of remaining stable.
