How do I get people to come to my website.

I have just started a website, www.liberalnet.com , dedicated to liberal causes in the greater Cincinnati area. The problem is, that I dont have any good ways of spreading the word and getting people involved. I am not selling anything... I just want Bush to be defeated and the Democrats to actually have a chance in my city.
If any of you have ideas I would greatly appricaite it.

Also you can email administrators of the various
liberal sites and request they look your site over
and link to it from their sites .

Just kidding. You can try and get listed on Yahoo.

Or contact your local progressive parties and candidates. The campaigns could spread the word. Also if there is a local left-leaning street rag there (seems every city has one) that may be a possibility.

You can also tell Larry Flynt, since he has such fond memories of Cincinnati.

7. Well, here is what works...

1. Content. Give them a reason to come, but more than that, a reason to return.

2. Promotion. Tell people about your site wherever you post and such a message is acceptable.

3. Advertise. If you can afford it, an account with Google's "AdWords" service can bring in clicks for as little as five cents each.

Write letters to the editor now and then. Most papers have restrictions.

Use your site as your organization name in the address so they have to print it.

ie:
