Hi guys. Just got back from Iraq after 11 months. I wanted to say hi to all my old friends and to this whole community.

I'm a soldier. I have been for a long time now (and after this deployment and war, I will not reup).

I hope you were not injured or wounded. From what we've been reading about exposure to depleted uranium, especially with the dispersal by the ferocious dust storms at the beginning of the war, I suggest you have yourself immediately and thoroughly checked out by a private physician who will tell you the whole truth about your health. It seems the VA medical personnel are under orders to minimize or deny such injuries, as they have done for a decade with the Gulf War I vets.

Also, according to a Truthout story, even though returning vets are supposed to get quick appointments with their VA hospitals, one soldier was quoted as being told it would take six months to get an appt., so her family went to their state's US Senators and raised hell - got her in within weeks.

If you run into that, just let DU know what state you're living in, and those of us from that state will be glad to make calls to our senators on your behalf.

Hi. Thanks for your concern. I really haven't thought about it, but I have been around destroyed Abrams tanks while entering Baghdad on April 9th. That's the only concern I have so far.

I live in Georgia of course (3rd ID).

I'm finally able to watch something other than FOX News. You could imagine the torture.

22. Are the troops still having problems getting supplies?

are things still really crappy with regard to the troops getting decent food, and staples like toilet paper and sunscreen? In other words, do they still need care packages? I know for awhile there, some of the troops weren't even getting three meals a day.

My brother was in the army for 21 years, even taking part in Gulf War I, and emerged a Republican and a pretty hard core one at that. He LOVES * which I cannot understand.

What is it they do in the army that creates so many Republicans and such loyalty to that party?
