Did your parents have a money saving ritual that you thought was cool at the time?

I know other folks whose parents regularly broke out the Spam.

2. Similar to my Mom's reply to my latest desired purchase, "Ask your father."

3. I got that one a lot, too. I refuse to do that to my kids, although part of the reason

is because their mother would buy them whatever they asked for, whether there was money in the account or not... Okay, that opens a world of resentment that maybe it would be better for me to just avoid... :rofl:

Can you believe they're giving Dallas 2 1/2 points against the Giants?

Not to get too cocky, but that's a bet I'd take in a minute.

Does that mean they think Dallas will win by 2.5 or the Giants will?

Either way, I can believe it. Both of these teams play down for their opponent. Both like to get a small lead and protect it, which leads to close games decided by field goals on the last play. God, I miss Jimmy Johnson.

I know the oddsmakers are taking this team's past December trends into the equation. That, and the fact that the Giants are in a desperate position with nothing to lose.

5. My Pops pounded on the wall when my shower time was up

He was once a sailor on a seagoing tug with a limited water supply and believed in navy showers, that, or he just hated giving money to the power company. In either event, we simply didn't waste back then and I don't waste today.

I didn't view my Pops rule cool at the time but I understood it was prudent.

They didn't buy meat. Or protein rich foods. Anything that one liked was rationed. It got to the point that my aunts interceded. It wasn't lack of money, it was a depression mindset in my mother.

It was formative for me. I think it is probably a big part of why I am such a carnivore now.
