December 2, 2009 -- Howie Mandel was at the the New York City Barnes and Nobel to sign his new book 'Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me' yesterday (December 1).
At least we think so.
The man catering to fans at the Fifth Avenue bookstore looked as if he was about to go into surgery. Wearing a mask like doctors wear in the OR made it difficult to identify the television host, let alone take pictures with the newly published author.
Howie Mandel was signing books, but he was wearing a surgical mask and rubber gloves to meet fans who waited in line so he could comfortable interact. While the title says it all, in case you didn't know, the host of 'Deal or No Deal' has some serious germ issues. A self-proclaimed germ phobic, Mandel gets very nervous around unfamiliar people and environments, using extreme caution when he meets his fans one-on-one.
After looking at the picture, you may be asking why Howie is covering his hands and face while leaving his arms and head exposed. It would be nice to offer an answer, but there isn't one. At least he came out to personally meet the fans instead of getting into a giant hamster ball so he has no physical contact as does happen during his Las Vegas Shows.
