8. Nah, that's mostly the problem with 80's stuff and after that it is all sequencers.
What the fuck happened to music?

15. I missed the irony.
It should have been obvious. And it has only gotten worse. The neighbor kid and his friends (all white, all with baggy pants hanging below their asses) were out listening to some bad rap (redundant, I know) that involved maybe two chords at best and the string of profanity-laced lyrics didn't have any correspondence to the drum machine or the sequencer (again, two chords at best). The ones that drive have imported go-carts with tiny tires and no muffler.

I'm tempted to plant my guitar amp and speakers (they are loud) on the back porch, plug in a mic, and announce to them that there is NO WAY IN HELL they are EVER going to get laid with that routine.

Rap was better back then, but my clothes were still awful.

Since then, I've learned the value of a nice crunchy guitar riff.

19. I'm more of a "classic rock" guy.
Actually, I lean more toward what (at least was) called "progressive rock", like early Genesis (Gabriel), King Crimson, etc.

You want some GUITAR rifs!!!

9. That depends on which music from the 80s you're talking about.
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 06:15 PM by LeftyMom
I'm assuming you mean pop, in which case the answer is that it's so awful it makes me glad I suffer significant hearing loss. But other forms (punk, metal, the cheezy power ballads I love and hate at the same time) did well in the period.

edit: Many bands that put out good stuff in prior decades had significant downswings in the quality of their output in the 80's as well.

13. Life's Rich Pageant was released in 1987. EPIC FAIL!
Or maybe it came out in 1986, in which case I humbly apologize.

But there was also Metallica, Iron Maiden and new wave at the very start of the '80's.
