I went to the computer store and bought a wireless router. I wanted to have my laptop connect to the internet. I'm thinking it should be pretty easy to get it running. But no. I take it out of the box and push the "ON" button. Nothing happens no lights flash and my laptop still has no internet connectivity.
I open the instruction manual and it says install the software first. Ok now I have it figured out. Wrong, I installed the software and my laptop still has no internets and no lights blink on the new electrical contraption. Reading a bit further in the instruction manual and following the setup guide on my desk top I was shocked to find........I needed to plug the fucking thing into a wall outlet. Wires? I thought it was wireless, WTF. Not only did I have to plug it into an outlet on the wall with the big wire, I also had to plug it into the back of the router with the small wire. WTF this thing is supposed to be wireless right?
It gets worse. Continuing on I find I need an Ethernet cable(more wire) to go from the modem to the router. Back into to box to find the cat 5 wire( all my cats are wireless but this contraption needs a wired cat)?
Distraught and discourage I struggle on to find I need yet another wire to go from the wireless router to the Ethernet port on the back of the desktop(this getting Ridiculous) not included of course. From what I can tell radio shack has some kind of sensor that reads my frustration level as soon as I leave my car and walk toward the store. Near as I can tell the sensor adjusts all the prices of anyting selling for less than $19.99 to $29.99 or $34.99.
Great, now I have as many cats as I have cat5 cables. If I ever get another cat I will just call it cat number 5. Even dogs, bird, lizard or whaterer will be called cat5.1 or cat5.2.. This will really confuse my veterinarian.
So I finally get the damn thing working.....light are flashing and I am happy. Then my desktop wants a wep code?.......I think it means "Wire Exploitation Program"....just a evil plot to add more wire to the world.
I am just bringing online a new desktop and it struck me how many wires are back there.
I wrote this in fun and I understand routers. Just needed to write something funny to share with DU
i hope you enjoy!
