Saw a really cool movie last night: "The Legend of 1900".
Rented it from Netflix. It's about a guy who was born on a ship and has never set foot on land. He's a remarkable pianist and spends his whole life aboard the ship. It's by the director who made "Cinema Paradiso". I won't give away the ending, but if you like slightly offbeat movies, it's great.

1. That is a great movie.
Offbeat is right. Caught me totally by surprise. I almost changed it because I don't like period pieces or costume dramas and I thought that's what I might be watching. But for some reason I stuck with it and wow, what an original story. Nice ending.

2. Giuseppe Tornatore
I really like his films. Saturday, I watched his "The Unknown Woman". It's one of those films where you suss out the ending only to be proven wrong. Warning: It had some pretty harsh scenes.

3. Really liked this movie
Very artful, almost operatic and totally compelling. Sucked in my skeptical husband who ended up loving it. The only reason I became aware of it was because I really liked the song Roger Waters did for it.

4. Thanks for this.
I consider Cinema Paradiso to be one of the best films hands down. I have already added it to my queue.
