1. Read the original graphic novel.
The movie is great but the comic is a 100 times better.

2. I waited 22 years to see it made, and I was not disappointed
My expectations were ratcheted to an exquisite level - that usually helps. :)

3. It's full of good things.
I don't dig superhero movies, as a rule, but this lives up to its awesome graphic novel source. It's wonderful.

4. I had glanced through the novel as a kid
I had no idea what I was in for when I popped in the DVD. What a ride!

5. Have you read the graphic novel? You should check it out.
The movie is an excellent adaptation...but the original is better. :hi:

6. When I was young I glanced over the novel, might have even read it
but never really got into it. The movie, on the other hand, just blew me away. It was a very well done movie.

18. Read the novel. wait a coulple weeks.
Let it sink in, then read it again and you'll be amazed at how much more leaps out at you.

Heck, it took me through the third read until I figured out what the Black Freighter comic book was doing inside the novel.

7. I liked it alright, wish they kept the original plot
from the graphic novel, that was so much more kick ass.

8. From what I read about the movie, the modifications were done to try and keep it up to date
the makers felt the movie had become a bit dated.

9. I won't tell you the alternate plot.
In case you read the GN but it was very doable. Dated? They kept Nixon as president anyway, and it still takes place in 1985.

10. I loved the graphic novel. It's well worth the read but

I did like the major plot change in the film. I thought it worked well.

The release of the special edition dvd with the "Black Freighter" story animation weaved back in should be very interesting.

11. I think the most significant change they made to the plot was done...
because honestly, cool as it was, the original climax would've been a bit too insane for audiences to swallow.
It was still cool.

12. I always thought the ending was the weakest part of Watchmen anyway
The movie made a reasonable change, but I still think that Adrian's gambit shouldn't have worked as well as it did, even in the short term.

13. "cool as it was, the original climax "

It was very cool and I was a little sad to not see it actualized on screen. The ending we got in this movie worked well imo.

14. I think the Zack Snyder was both the best and worst choice to direct it.
On the one hand, it looked incredible. The credits alone were worth the price of admission, and the design was brilliant. On the other, Snyder is OMG SUPER GRITTY AND SERIOUS! and leached any contemplation or humor out of the movie.

Still, have watched repeatedly.

16. I might just be getting old.
The prison scene with Big Figure and his goons, I was thinking "really? you had to cut off his hands in slow motion with a grinder? just cutting his throat wasn't quite gritty enough?"

Zack Snyder needs to get off my lawn, basically.

17. Well admittedly I wondered (after the fact) why one arm couldn't have solved the problem
still the over darkness and grittiness was simply over whelming (in a good way).
