Being a woman, I must say that I love jewelry! (Pay no attention to that other post!) And it does not have to be some humongous gold and diamond-encrusted gewgaw, either. A pair of hand-made silver earrings for my pierced ears will be appreciated and treasured for the rest of my life. Anyone else?

The current strip is one of my favorites (the comics section on Yahoo news has it). The running theme had been Opus falling in love with a rough chick who liked pro wrestlers. The current one is him showing up to find out she ran off with a wrestler and getting a date with her roommate who hates all men.

I'm watching this thread with bated breath to find out what, other than jewelry, women want. The ones in my life are not normal...my roommate wants expensive books on national security policy (She's an analyst for DHS and a Ph.D candidate in that subject.), My mother wants a new chainsaw.

Books, garden tools... I have a list of books a mile long that I would love to have. I used to work for a woman who asked for and got a shot gun for Christmas. (She hunts rabbits.) Speaking for myself, I would love a Kitchen Aid mixer, although I need a new toaster oven more than I need a mixer. Some women get insulted by gifts of kitchen appliances, but they're usually not the ones who enjoy cooking. On the other hand, sometimes a gift card is the best option. Let them pick out what they really want themselves.

used a Bed Bath Beyond coupon on it, great bargain. He uses it all the time.

14. A big mirrored Jewelry Box

A big one that stands on the floor. I actually don't like expensive jewelry (except for my wedding ring that I cherish).. but I have a lot of necklaces, earings & bracelets that i've accumulated over the years.. and they're all crammed into my small jewelry box on my dresser. I'd love to have something bigger so I can actually see what I have and not have to dig through ziplock bags and tupperwear containers to find what i'm looking for that will match my outfit for the day.

15. I prefer electronics of any sort

Computer gadgets, technology, software, hardware. Anything but games. This year my husband and I are giving each other a Blu-ray player on the condition that I set it up and teach him how to use it.

The only jewelry I wear is my wedding/engagement rings, I do not do make-up, clothes should come from LL Bean or REI.

I think the idea that one can select gifts for someone based strictly on gender is pretty offensive but, since this is the lounge, I'll just point out that there are many of us who do not fit the stereotypes.

I have used the same brush for about 6 years.

20. They last a LONG time, and they make hair brushing a PLEASURE.

I prefer the brushes that combine natural and nylon bristles. They reach the scalp
while simultaneously grabbing the hair and pulling it completely through to the ends.

I have had complete disdain for ordinary brushes ever since I first came across this
brush in England, about 30 years ago.

I had forgotten to pack a brush and was wandering around looking for souvenirs for my
family and came upon these ridiculously EXPENSIVE brushes. I bought a couple at the
urging of the clerk and I was HOOKED.

They make ergonomically designed brushes for all types of hand sizes
and all types of hair.

Some people prefer all natural bristle, but I like the combo.

I bought one for my aunt one year (she hates EVERYTHING) and she was pretty
snotty about getting a hair brush as a gift. About 3 months later, she phoned
me and said "I just wanted to properly thank you for that hair brush you brought
me from England. At first I thought it was a "chintzy" gift, but I love it, I've
never had a hair brush like it."

She is now in a nursing home, and the brush is in her top drawer.

I have two daughters, and they both use my brush, although there are about 20
other brushes in and around the bathroom...mine is getting tore up, so I want
a new one. The girls can have my old one.....
